Andover Garden Club Announces Free Lecture on Garden Design

The Andover Garden Club will sponsor a free garden-design lecture at Memorial Hall Library in Andover on March 7, 2023. The public is invited to gather at 6:45M; the lecture will begin soon thereafter.

The program will feature landscape architect and professional photographer Joanne Pearson, who will discuss garden design and illustrate her lecture with photos of showcase gardens in Europe and the United States. Her design analysis will include discussion of the hardscape and softscape elements that make landscapes shine. She will offer ideas on developing a concept plan for home yards and suggest ways to modify and incorporate grand themes seen in showcase gardens into a scale suitable for homeowner’s yard, budget, and schedule.

About the Speaker

Pearson has been a professional photographer for more than 25 years and is the proprietor of Fair Haven Photographs (https://joannepearson.com/). She previously worked as a registered landscape architect in Massachusetts and practiced for 12 years, including a 4-year stint at the renowned multi-disciplinary firm Sasaki of Boston.

Her photographs of gardens, landscapes, and people have been featured in numerous magazines, books, and calendars, including Yankee, Mahoney Publishing, BrownTrout Publishers Inc., Willow Creek Press, Vermont Illustrating, Farm and Ranch Living, Country, Offshore, Insight Guides, and Lonely Planet. She is the sole photographer for Mahoney Publishing’s Flowers and Gardens of New England. She also photographs interiors, exteriors, lifestyle, and food for inns and resorts throughout New England.

Pearson regularly lectures on gardens and photography, seeking to inspire and educate audiences via beautifully illustrated presentations.
