Home design inspiration: Stealing space for a bathroom from a closet

To make a lot more storage room in this toilet, the designer stole area from the closet in a neighboring space. From Created Collective Co.

Redesigning the lone bath in a Somerville rental that a younger pair shares with 1 of their grandparents presented competing aims. They desired adequate storage for three but also wanted the space to be mild and ethereal. Brainstorming, Jillian Hoover of Manufactured Collective Co. and Patrick Rettig of Haven Architecture turned up a remedy: steal the eating area closet. “We reversed the closet to open up into the bathtub,” Hoover claims. “There’s now a full closet just within the doorway and pretty simple towel hooks together the opposite wall.”

1 Concrete-motivated porcelain ground tiles from Tile Bar are common but lively. “We retained every thing straightforward, then place a pleasurable sample on the flooring,” Hoover says. “The little, matte charcoal hex tiles on the ground in the shower are extra grippy for basic safety.”

2 A leggy, not-as well-deep washstand lets the eye to travel by the place as an alternative halting at a strong cabinet, making the space surface bigger. The matte black complete of the present day Kohler Purist plumbing fixtures and other metallic information are both equally hanging and on trend with no sensation stylish.

3 Minimalist black metallic cabinets virtually disappear previously mentioned the toilet and choose gain of normally empty vertical wall house.

4 A midcentury contemporary type light fixture by Young Residence Enjoy for Shades of Gentle provides a contact of brass. An inset drugs upper body with clean up lines offers storage with out visible distraction.

5 Shiny white subway tile provides a clean backdrop and bounces mild about the place. It is also affordable.

6 Frameless glass shower doors let daylight stream in. A storage area of interest edged in black echoes the mirror while the shower head provides interest. “The clientele desired to mount the shower head to the ceiling,” Hoover states. “It looks great without it, the shower would appear to be pretty empty.”
